Dashkova Residence Hotel occupies a historical building built in XVIII century.
On the 1 of November, 1782 the house was sold to the Empress’s closest female friend, princess Yekaterina Romanovna Dashkova. She lived in the mansion for 12 years. Dashkova Residence has kept the historic look of the mansion, combining its unique design with stylish and modern décor.
Since its founding, Saint Petersburg has been closely related to Holland and Dutch culture, and the hotel stylistics emphasizes this connection for the guest to fully appreciate the amazing atmosphere and feel the history.
Princess Yekaterina Romanovna Dashkova was an Imperial Russian Court lady-in-waiting, namely a Statsdame and a close friend of Empress Catherine the Great. She headed the Russian Academy of Sciences and was a major figure of the Russian Enlightenment. Dashkova was an exceptional personality in Russian history, at least because in XVIII century women, apart from royalty, were not allowed to participate in governmental affairs.
“Then I examined the house of the late banker Frederiks and agreed with his widow upon the price, which didn’t exceed 30 000 roubles. I asked the Empress’ permission to buy it, to what she answered that she had already ordered the Cabinet to pay whatever price of the house I would like to buy…”
Bright and modern Dutch style interior design of Dashkova Residence Hotel emphasizes the uniqueness and historical look of this old Petersburg building.
